Ensemble Mik Nawooj performs the innovative music of composer/pianist JooWan Kim, who injects Western European Classical compositional techniques into such genres as hip-hop, rock, and pop. EMN combines Pierrot ensemble instrumentation (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano) with a lyric soprano, deep funk drums, a heavy contrabass, and two featured MCs. We think NPR said it best: “Whoever said that chamber music couldn’t be hip obviously haven’t heard of Ensemble Mik Nawooj.”
